About us:

Our company, Avvir, is a seed stage start-up company in the Construction Tech Industry. We provide an end-to-end construction monitoring service using our proprietary machine learning and computer vision algorithm. We take 3D LIDAR scans of construction sites and and compare them to 3D building models to measure progress and detect defects automatically. Right now, we are the only company capable of actually pushing changes from reality back into the 3D model. The opportunity is massive ($16B) and we are already working with fortune 500 companies.

We are a team of 8 with backgrounds from University of Pennsylvania and Amazon, getting ready to raise a round this fall. We expect to be 15 people within the next 6-8 months.

1) Work closely and often pair with other developers to create data-processing pipeline and customer-facing portal.

2) Collaborate with Design/Product team to find the best path for delivering value. We are relentlessly focused on creating a great service. On a balanced team, everyone is responsible for respecting the expertise of others, but also sharing their expertise and contributing to the direction of the product.

3) Communicate current blockers and progress with product manager / team

4) Help to lead and manage a growing engineering team

How we work:
We keep stories small and acceptance criteria clear so we can better manage and understand risks. We test-drive our code so that it’s easy to understand and change. We pair up about 15 hours/week to facilitate learning, to write better code, and to reduce knowledge siloing.

We are also always working on improving the way that we work, and every week we have a retrospective to reflect and consider ways we could be doing things better.
